Boomsday - Knoxville, TN

Boomsday is a biggest fire work show in the nation. I watched bunch of times on TV, but this year, I had the privilege to attend a special party that was hosted by one of the sponsor of the fireworks.

ノックスビルのブームズデイはアメリカで一番大きい花火大会らしい。私はテレビで毎年見ていたのですが、今年は特別なパーティーに招待されたので、張り切って浴衣で出席しました。

Since we knew there is going to be a BAD traffic, we decided to leave early. I was in county building. Without the special permission, you can not get into the building, however, you can park your car for $5 and stay in the garage. A lot were already there and tailgating. After the dinner, I had chance to go out a little bit to take pictures of downtown Knoxville in the sunset.

何万人もの人が毎年来るので、渋滞を避けるため早めにパーティーに到着しました。招待された場所は特別な許可がないと入れないところなのですが、駐車場だけは一般の人も＄５で入れて、すでに場所取りしている人たちでいっぱいでした。ディナーの後、花火まで時間があったのでダウンタウンの風景を写真に少し撮りました。

Fireworks were so close that I got ashes on me. As you can see in the picture, I had a pretty good spot to see the show.

場所はとても良く花火の灰が飛んでくるぐらいでした。

My suggestion is to get there early because some of the road gets closed. Part your car anywhere in downtown area. Go get something to eat or catch a movie. Then find a spot to watch the fireworks. It will be crowded everywhere, so just be ready to elbow people. The show itself is only 30minutes, so you don’t necessary have to bring the chairs. If you want to tailgate, bring lots of food and drinks and games to do. Make sure to check your closest port potties! When it’s over, keep partying at least one hour or more because the traffic won’t move anyway.

もし行く機会があれば、2時間か3時間ぐらい早めに来てダウンタウンのパーキングに車を止めて、花火の前にご飯を食べるか映画を見に行って時間をつぶし、時間際に花火が見える場所を探したらよいと思います。花火は30分ぐらいなので立っていても大丈夫。もし車を止めてピクニックをしたいなら3時間ぐらい早めにきて移動トイレに近い場所を探したら良いでしょう。花火の後は渋滞で車が動かないので、その後1時間ぐらい近場で時間をつぶすと良いと思います。

To me, this firework show is more sports and not artistic as Japanese ones, but it is worth watching. It is very exciting!

日本の花火より芸術的でないのですが、見に行ってみてください。
