Greek Festival – Knoxville, TN

Greek festival is one of the major and popular festivals in Knoxville. This festival is known for great food and entertainment. They even serve alcohol drinks which make it more fun for adults?!?!

ノックスビルではかなり有名なグリーク/ギリシャフェスティバル。もう29年目になるらしい。このイベントは教会で行われるのですが、ギリシャからのお酒も飲めたりして大人から子供まで楽しめす。



Thay have the shuttle service. You have to use that since you can’t park at the church.

車は大きい指定パーキングにおいてフェスティバル専用のピストンバスに乗って行きます。



The church is open for the public. They do have tours if you want to learn more about the church.

教会の中も見られます。詳しく教会のことや歴史など聞きたい人はツアーに参加もできます。

Inside is BEAUTIFUL! / 本当に綺麗な教会!





Of course crafts too. / お土産品も買える

Greek Coffee. It is very strong / ギリシャのコーヒーは粉をゆでて、とっても濃い。



All the food they serve is EXCELLENT!!! 食べ物は全部おいしい！

一番高い羊のお肉の料理。＄10だけど変わっているから食べるかいはあると思う。



Wines and Ouzo. You can enjoy the complete Greek food and drink experiences!
ワインは酒屋で買えるのもあって割高だけど、1回はお試ししてみてください。ウーソー(ouzo)というのはギリシャの焼酎みたいな物。アルコール度はかなり高くストレートで飲むのでお酒に弱い人には危険かも。


I always buy at least 2 dozens of cookies and keep them in the freezer so I can eat them when I want to. They are that good!
私は毎年絶対にクッキーを買う。おいしいのでいっぱい買って冷凍庫に保存し好きなときに出して食べる。日本人好みの甘さ控えめでおいしい!

They always have a funny Greek musician/entertainer on stage. Also, Greek dance is going on almost all the time to entertain us.

いつも面白いギリシャ人のミュージシャンかエンターテイナーが舞台を仕切っている。ギリシャ伝統の踊りも1日中披露される。


Children dance too! So cute! / 子供も踊る。かわいい！

If you have not gone to the festival, this is the Must one you have to go to!
　
いったことのない人は是非来年行ってください。間違いなく楽しめます! たまに、春にもやるときがあるので1年待たなくても良いかも!　しっかり新聞でチェックしましょう!

Hola Festival - Market Square, Knoxville, TN

This is the first year of the “Hola festival.” Even though I had my 4 teeth removed the day before, I had to check it out because I LOVE festivals.

“オラ”フェスティバルは今年初めてのイベントです。イベント好きな私は前の日に親知らずを4本抜いたにもかかわらず痛み止めを飲んでいってきました。



Unfortunately, it was raining a little, so the stage was covered most of the time. Yet, when they played the music, people were dancing everywhere. Hispanic people are fun loving people.

残念ながら雨が降っていて、ステージでの生演奏はほぼ中止状態でした。でもちょっと上がったら演奏が始まって、いろいろな所で人が踊っていました。ヒスパニック系の人たちは踊るのが大好き。陽気な楽しい人ばかりです。



Crafts. I especially wanted to buy these cute basket/bags… I will go to the country and get it someday!

手作り品もほしかったのですが、いつかその国に訪れる時までのお楽しみに。

I don’t remember this country, but it is made of Armadillo’s skin. Armadillos are gourmet in the country, and since trees don’t grow much, they started to make the instrument with the skin. Such a good idea. No waste! The sound was very cute.

アルマジロの皮でできた楽器。その国では普通にアルマジロを食べるらしい。山の上に住んでいるので木もあまり生えないためアルマジロの残りの皮を使うようになったらしい。かわいらしい音がしてました。

The thing most impressed me was the FOOD!
Oh my god, the food smelled and looked so good! I had hardest time choosing which one to buy! I bought and took home samples of food from every counties. They were very reasonable prices too. It ranged about $1 ~$5. What a bargain!

一番感動したのは食べ物!　
良い匂いが色々な所からしてきて、選ぶのに大変でした。でも今日は食べられないので全部の国からサンプルを買いました。　1品＄1から＄５でお買い得!　両手で持ちきれるだけ買って＄20しなかった…

Some kind of tamales
タマレという中・南アメリカのなじみの食べ物。とうもろこし粉でできている。中身は鶏肉や豚肉。

お芋とひき肉でできている。おいしかった!

Cutting the cooked pork skin. hispanics seem to love posk skin... I love the fried one, but not good for your health... :(

ブタの皮をはさみで切っている。中・南アメリカ人はブタの皮を良く食べる。私は揚げたのが好きだけど体に良くなさそう。


Complete plate with rice? If my teeth were good, I would have tried!
歯が良ければ買ったけど、今回は写真だけ。


Even more delicious looking food! / おいしそうな食べ物まだまだ出てきます!

Her sweets looked SO good! She caters from home.
普通甘い物は超甘く日本人好みのお菓子はなかなか見つからないのですが、この人のはおいしかった!


This cookie was the delicate and delicious cookie I have ever had!
このクッキーはお勧め!　コーンスターチで作ってるらしい。軽くておいしい!　もっとかったらよかった!


There were separate sections. Each table was showing videos, crafts and costumes of different countries. All the Spanish speaking countries were there.

違う場所では、お国紹介のテーブルがあって、その国のビデオや民族衣装など展示してました。



Spain was showing things too / スペインも参加してました

I hope they will do this every year! Only problem is that this was the same day as Greek and Balloon festival. They must find other day so all the fun events are not in one day!

1日つぶせるぐらいの楽しいおいしいイベントですが、ノックスビルでは古く続いている他の2つのイベントとぶつかっていて人の入り具合もぼちぼち。来年は違う日を選んでほしい!

Wildflowers - Summer & Fall 2008

Did you know that yellow flowers you see off the streets are not all the same? They are weeds, but they are beautiful flowers too! This is for the people who doesn't have time to stop and look those beauties.

このごろ道路の脇に黄色の花がたくさん咲いています。よく見るといろいろな種類が混じっているのがわかります。このブログは雑草だと言って気を付けて見ない人のために...　

I love them because they are not only beautiful, but also strong! They comes back after run over by cars, or mowed down. I should learn from them! :)

野花は綺麗でかつ何があっても(車に引かれたりしても)負けずに立ち直る強い花なので好きです。見習わなくては？！

The Glowing Body - new yoga studio in Knoxville

New yoga place opened this month in Knoxville. I was able to sneak in to the open house and free yoga classes.

新しいヨガ教室が開いたとのことで早速、オープニングのパーティーとお試しクラスに参加してきました。



It is at the corner of Central and Fulton, behind the Mag Pie.

オールドシティーから来ると右側にこのサインが見えるはず。ここを右へ入ると教室は左側に見える。

They have two neat spaces with natural light / 教室は二つある。





They also have therapy services. Nice setting.

いろいろなマッサージやセラピーもやっている。



They also have a raw food café, which is so delicious! I had samples of everything!
The "raw food" is as it sounds. It means non cooked/heated food. It is good for you because the food retain all the good nutrition, which can be lost a lot in cooking process.

今だんだん人気になりつつあるロウフード(調理せず、切ったりミキサーにかけただけの食べ物‐ベジタリアンに特に人気)のカフェが奥にある。オープンハウスで全部の試食をさせていただきました。本当にヘルシーでおいしかった!　ベジタリアン用のおかしもあって、卵、牛乳なしでもおいしかった!

表側のケーキ屋さん”マグパイ”もロゴ入りのケーキを出してました。

They offer many different classes every day. Yoga is good for everyone all age!
$15 per class. $13 per class, if you buy 5 class card, and $12 per class if you buy 10 class card. If you have thought about taking a yoga class somewhere, this is the place to be!
