My 3 favorite bakeries… You should all try them!!! 大好きなベーカリー三軒。

VG’s is the longest participant here. They are VERY VERY Very good. Little pricy, but well worth it. My fav is Mexican corn bread. Mmmmmmmmm.
　
VG’ｓは一番長くマーケットに出しているベーカリー。お値段は少し高めだけど価値はある。　私の一番好物はメキシカンコーンブレッド。　

They are from south America. Unusual cookies and healthy bars, etc. For American, it may not be sweet enough… For me PERFECT!

ここは南アメリカから来た人のお店。変わったクッキーやバーなどが売られている。甘みは控え目なので日本人にはぴったり！

This is new one for me. I got a little one to try ($1.25)… OH MY GOSH. It was to die for. Those good looking cakes are $5~6! I will come get it next time! (I couldn’t have more bake stuff because I bought too many already…)

I over bought too many bread and cakes… but I will surely enjoy them until next one.

Gregory Bald - Great Smoky Mountains

I went to the Gregory Bald for the first time last year. Because it was so beautiful, I had to go back again. But this time, I challenged the hard way up.

去年初めてグレゴリーボルドに行ったときに超感動したので今年も行ってきました。でも今年は普通と反対から登る長い距離のコースにチャレンジ。

We took the 129 called “Dragon” to get to Twentymile ranger station. From there, Gregory Bald is 7.7miles. Long way…

そこまで行くには、129号線の通称ドラゴンと言う道を通ってトゥウェンティーマイルのレンジャーステーションまで行き、そこからは7.7マイル。長い道です。



Last year when I came here, I saw only a few wild flowers, but on this trail; Long Hungry Ridge Trail, there were several different ones. I was so excited!!!

去年の道にはそんなに野草が生えてなかったけど今回はいろいろ見つけました。

Just before you get to the top, there is a way to a spring. I was VERY tired and almost didn’t make it to the spring, but I was so glad I didn’t give up because the water was so tasty and good. We refilled our water there.

ほぼ頂上の手前に湧き水が出るところがあって、みんなで寄ることになったのですが、結構道が長くて既に疲れ切っていた私は途中で引き返しそうになったけどせっかくなので行きました。友達がフィルターを持ってきていたので私も飲ませてもらいました。これがまたおいしい!　来て良かった!

Hi horses! 自分の馬に乗っていくのもOK

We walked about 5.5 hour… then I saw the opening and big blue sky! The bald! Instantly fatigue just went away!

登りは5時間ほどかかりました。頂上近くになると空が出てくる。青い空ときれいなお花を見ると疲れも吹っ飛んだ。

We spent 1.5 hours to eat and take pictures. I could have stayed longer and keep taking pictures. I didn’t want to leave! But I had to… total travel time was 10 hours!

草原では1時間半ほどご飯を食べたり写真を撮ったりしました。他の人がいなければ、もうちょっと時間をかけて写真を撮ったけど行く時間が…　上り下り全部で10時間ほどでした!

I have heard that that azalea fungus is edible… I wasn’t for sure, but a lady I met told me it is, so I tried it. It needs to be fresh green one. Wasn’t too bad. It was like asian pear without sweetness.

ここのアゼリアには菌が大きくなった物がついていて、食べれると聞いていたのですが、ちょっと不安。でも出会った女の人が新しい緑の分は食べれると教えてくれたので早速試してみた。　甘みなしの21世紀なしと言う感じ。

Among bikers, road 129; “Dragon” is famous for being difficult curvy long road. On the way back, we stopped at the shop every bikers stop. I was not fitting into the environment, but I was so curious, so I didn’t care.

バイカーの間では　129号線　“ドラゴン”は難しいカーブがいっぱいある長い道と言うことでとても有名。帰りにはその道にあるバイカーの集まるお店に止まった。

This tree is very creative… 　　　この木は事故したバイクの部品で飾られている。

They have nice souvenir shop and place to eat. VERY NICE!

お店も結構いい感じ。お店特製のTシャツもかなり売れていた。

I was very exhausted when I got home, but I MADE IT! My first more than 15 miles hike!

本当に疲れたけど15マイル強のハイキング達成!　

First Friday - June 2009

This first Friday was special because of the special exhibits came from Japan. I dressed up in traditional Summer Japanese outfit for the occasion to go there. Well, I would talk more about it if it was really good, but I won’t. It’s shown until the end of this month, but you don’t have to kill yourself to go there… you know what I mean…

今月のファーストフライデーは日本からの展示があると言うことで特別に浴衣を着て張り切って行ってきました。もし良い作品があればお勧めしますが、普通だったのでパス。6月いっぱいUTで展示してるらしいので暇があればどうぞ。


(I didn’t have any idea UT has such a nice Art building with coffee shop!)
(UTのアートのビルがこんなにきれいでしかもコーヒーショップがあるなんて知らなかった!）

The one I liked the most this month was the Smoky mountain art contests in emporium. Others were blah…

今月の展示で私が一番気に入ったのはエンポリウムで展示されていたスモーキーマウンテンのコンテストのみ。後はあんまり。

On the way home, I had to stop by Mag Pie’s for free cup cakes, but I was too late :( But since I was there, I stopped at Glowing Body to check out my friend’s vegetable garden so I can put on my blog. Interestingly, my friends were there!

帰り道マグパイのカップケーキ試食会に行くはずだったのに行ったらすでに終わっていた。でもグローイングボディーの近所なのでそちらに友達の作った畑を見に行くことにした。ひょんなことにその友達や他の友達も来ていた

She is the one in charge of the garden. The restaurant uses those herbs and veggies.

They added wine! (organic ones) YES!
If you have not tried their food, you should. Their food make you feel good from inside.
有機栽培いのワインも登場!　ここの食べ物は体の中から気持ちが良くなるような健康食を提供している。



I got great take out from Growing Body, and was ready to go home, but I found something going on on Central av. Of course I had to stop to check out. The Central area is still work in progress. But I found out they are having first Friday there, also.

お持ち帰りをして家に帰るはずだったのにまた何か発見。車を止めて見に行った。セントラルの付近はまだ流行ってないけど、力を入れて頑張っている。ここもファーストフライデーを始めたらしい。

I didn’t realize how much the First Friday is growing and spreading out to different places other than downtown Knoxville. I am so happy that it is getting popular! I need to check local newspaper little more carefully so I don’t miss any fun stuff going on all over Knoxville!

ファーストフライデーはダウンタウンだけでなくその近辺にも広がっている様だ。やったー!　これからは新聞などをしっかりチェックしないといいものを見逃すかも!
