Anderson County Fair 2008

I love good old American fairs! It seems like time just goes back to a good old time in America even though I don’t really know what good old time in America is. In Japan, we have summer festivals when kids are out of school, but not “fair” which shows farm animals, classic cars, and/or tractors. So it makes more interesting to me.

アメリカでのお祭りシーズンが始まった。お祭りというより品評会と言う方が正しいのかも知れない。アメリカのフェアーでは日本ではもうほとんど見ない移動遊園地と農畜産物や自動車のなどの品評会が５日間ぐらい行われて、とにかく田舎っぽいアメリカらしい行事です。

Anderson County Fair is a smaller one, but a lot of people go.
アンダーソンカウンティーフェアーの規模は小さい行けど人はたくさん来る。

　
In the main building, there are quilts, flower arrangement, photography shows and more. I didn’t go in, but if you are competitive in those craft areas, you have GREAT chance to win. Submit next year!

メインビルの中ではキルトや生け花、写真コンテストの受賞者の作品が展示されている。今年は見てないけどレベルはかなり低いので賞をとる確立はかなり高いですよ！


Animals! It makes me a little bit guilty knowing that they might be eaten… I am so thankful there are person who take care of my meats. I would have to go vegetarian without the farmer! Thanks you farmers! The place is a little bit stinky. I suggest wearing shoes, and not sandals because you never know what you gonna step on… Also, some of the rides are pretty rough that shoes might come off! (from my experience)

この辺で飼育されている動物。食べ物用だと思う…そう思うとなんとなく可愛そう。でもお肉大好きなので家畜している人に感謝！中はわらが敷かれている。　ちょっと臭い。

Tractors are popular in the fair!?!? I guess they ae cool to some people…
トラクターなどは人気の展示品です。この日のためにしっかり磨かれたトラクター。




Greasy food comes with the fair. I guess it is not a fair without all those expensive funnel cakes cotton candies and burgers. We love cotton candies in Japan too, but not those greasy stuff…

脂ぎった食べ物はフェアーのつき物。良くそんなのおいしいと思って食べれるなぁといつも思う。




My favorite part of the fair is the rides! This kind of the rides are gone before I was born, I think it is mainly for the safety reason…I personally I prefer rides in 6 Flags or Disney, but this will do until I can get to those bigger amusement parks.

移動型の遊園地。トラックで運んでこのフェアーのために設置する。安全性は？とちょっと疑いたくなる様な設定。乗り物自体は小さくって、すっごく揺れるので頭を何回も打ったりする。乗り終えたらだいたい気分が悪くなる。ずいぶんと使い込まれているのか設計が古いのか大きな遊園地とは格が全然低い乗り物だけどなぜか乗りたくなる。このネオンの性かなあ？






This game, I think you have to throw something and break the balloons to get the prize… well, it is set too close… I know it is trying to be kids friendly, but if it was in Japan, those Japanese kids would have taken all the best prizes! I guess we have better hand dexterity…

日本の子供がこのゲームをしたら、ほぼ全員一番の景品を取るでしょう。アメリカ人の子供がどれだけ不器用かということを証明している。

I was there just for the last 15 minutes, so I couldn’t take more pictures. Maybe I will do better next year! or wait for the report from this year’s Knox County Fair which is way bigger than this one.

今年は仕事など都合で閉館前の15分しかフェアーに行けなく写真もいまいち。　また来年頑張ります！ノックスカウンティーのフェアは9月で規模ももっと大きいのでそのレポートもお楽しみに！
