To Mt. Le Conte

This was in my to do list for a long time and I finally got to do it!!!
Only problems is the hike is very long...


ずっとやりたいと思っていたラコントへのハイキング！
問題はこのハイキング２３キロの山登りと下り...

To save our energy, we hitch hiked to the trail head. Because it is a very popular driving trail, we got the ride quickly! We saved about 1 hour; 2.3 miles.

違う道を通って帰りたいので、行きは入り口までヒッチハイクしました。ここは、車でドライブできるところなので、トラックを探すのは簡単でした。これで、時間は１時間ぐらい、距離は３～４キロぐらい短縮。長いハイキングなのでありがたい



YAY! this is why I wanted to hike this on Friday! We go here just a right timing!

金曜日を選んだのはこのため。ちょうどラマが登り始めたところ！



Llamas carry supplies to the Mt. Le Conte lodges every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

このラマは、山の上のロッジでいるものを毎週月、水、金曜日に運んでいく。

Wilderness Wildlife Week

This is the first time I participated in this event. It starts on Saturday and goes until next Saturday. All day long, they have classes about fishing, wild flowers, nature photography, history of smoky mountain, and on and on and on. Also, they have hike led by experienced hiker/ex-ranger.

ワイルドライフウィークは今回はじめて行って来ました。１月にいつも行われていて、土曜日から土曜日までいろいろなクラス(魚釣り、野草、写真、スモーキーの歴史などについてのクラス)やハイキングにただで参加できます。

First day, I took some classes. Majority of participants are older, and the class style is not formal. I enjoyed them a lot. That day, I also signed up for the hike next day.

最初の日はクラスに参加。ほとんどはお年寄りの方々。クラスは気軽で誰でも受けられます。その日は次の日のハイキングにも署名。ハイキングは２日前の署名が必要なので気を付けましょう。



Next day, I hiked Greenbrier area, where people used to live. The trail is not on the regular map, so I was extra excited.

次の日はグリーンブライアーと言う所へ行きました。普通の地図には載っていない所なのでうれしい!

We met at the convention center in Pigeon Forge 7am… it was challenging… but I did it for a free guided hike! Today’s hike was Injun Creek, McCarter Cemetery, Grapeyard Ridge trail, and then Rhododendron trail.

ピジュンフォージの集合場所に７時集合。ガイド付きのハイキングなので頑張りました。



Snow all over!!! I never hiked in Snow! By the way, they will check you if you are appropriate for hike in cold weather. If you are not, they won’t take you to the hike.

雪!　雪の中を歩くのは初めて。このイベントは厳しくて、もし冬用のハイキングの服装をしていないと一緒に連れて行ってくれません。

This is the sign that people used to live here.

石が積んでいるところは昔誰かが住んでいたという証拠

This can supposed to be the sign to go somewhere… I would never guessed.

このカンは道のサインらしい。自分だけだったら、完璧にミスっているところ。

There is one big oak tree. It was kept so the cows can rest under the shadow during summer time.

このあたりはやせた木ばかりなのですが、1本だけ大きなオークが立っています。牛が暑い日にこの影で休めるように昔の人が残したらしい。

There was a school house here…

学校もあったらしい。

This is a little impressive. If this person is alive, he is the one who is building my chimney :) This is how kids spent time doing in this area. Clearing stones out of field.

暇つぶしに誰かが作ったらしい。この辺で生まれた子供の仕事は畑で邪魔になる石をどけることだったらしい

Oh, ohhhh! I see the “INJUN” This creek was named of this. Wrecked Steam Engine which used to pull logs.

これがこの小川の名前(“エンジン小川”でもスペルが変)の由来。昔、木を運ぶためのスティームエンジンが落ちっている







So beautiful to hike in snow! / 雪の中はとても綺麗!
