Mag Pie’s Open House

I had to work late this day, but there was no way I miss free cup cakes from Mag Pie!!!

”マグパイ”のオープンハウスの試食会。そんな大事な日なのに仕事が遅番...　時間が限られていたので飛んで行って来ました



I got there the last hour, but people were still enjoying the cup cakes. Who doesn’t???

最後の１時間切っていたけどまだまだ人がいて試食を楽しんでいました



They just moved from old city to this new location. They make CUTE cakes for different occasions.

カップケーキもだけどオーダーメイドのデコレーションケーキの専門店で、オールドシティーからここセントラルストリートに最近移ってきた。




I am not really fun of American cakes in general, but I can eat theirs.

アメリカの甘いケーキはあんまり苦手だけどここのケーキはなかなかいけてるのがある






They were all YUMMY / 全種類いただきました

For a cupcake, it is a lot of money, but it is worth the money. Go try it!

Samuel Franklin’s Christmas Open House

If you love house décor and live in East Tennessee, you must know Samuel Franklin. I have personally seen a house done by him and it is SO charming.

サミュエルフランクリンは、家のデコレーションに凝っている人の間ではかなり有名な人です。彼のデザインした家はとってもチャーミングでまさに雑誌から出てきたような部屋ばかりです。

Samuel Franklin’s Christmas Open house is the famous even everyone talks about. Of course I have to go check it out.

彼のお店は毎年クリスマスにクリスマスの飾りを売るためのオープンハウスが行われます。　有名なので、とりあえずチェックしに行ってきました。



It is on Main Street in Clinton, near downtown Clinton.
お店はクリントンのメインストリート沿いです。ダウンタウンの近所。

Cynthia Markert 30 years retrospective – Unitarian Church in Knoxville, TN

One of my favorite local artist in Knoxville is having a show in the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville. I went to the opening, but I just missed her talk when I got there… :(

シンシアは私が一押しの地元のアーティスト。そのシンシアが今ノックスビルのユニタリアン教会で作品を展示している。私はそのオープニングのパーティーに出席したのですが肝心の作品紹介のスピーチを逃してしまった。残念。



I love her works in Market Square, (her pieces can be seen in Vagabondia, and restaurants in that area) but it was very very interesting to see her old works. 　

彼女の絵はノックスビルのマーケットスクエアーのいろいろなお店で展示されている。(バガボンディアでは作品を買うこともできる)　でもこの展示会ではあまり見れない古い作品も展示されていてなかなか面白い

The show is through November 7th in the church. It is free! Support the local artist!
11月7日まで展示しています。見るのはただ!!!　是非ノックスビルに来られるときは立ち寄ってください!

Antique Festival - in Clinton, TN

This October seems a little busier in TN. I find something to do every weekend when we don’t have University of Tennessee home game (football). The 2nd week was Antique Festival and Museum of Appalachia’s Home Coming in Anderson County, a new Street fair to promote part of Central street (which is the new development in north Knoxville,) Brewer’s Jam at world fair park, and Foothills Fall Festival in Maryville. I wanted to go to all, but I only have one body and so much money!!!

テネシーの10月は忙しい月のようです。テネシー大学のフットボールのゲームがない日はいろいろな行事がいろいろな所で行われています。第2週目は骨董市とアパラチアンミュージアムの1番大きいイベントがアンダーソンカウンティーで、ノックスビルの新しい開拓地「セントラル」ストリートの第一回目のストリートフェアーとアメリカ中のいろいろなビール工場が集まって試飲が1日中できる“Ｂｒｅｗｅｒ‘ｓ　Ｊａｍ”がノックスビルで、最後に秋のフェスティバルがメリビルで行われていました。全部行きたかったけど時間もお金もきついのでどれに行こうか？？？

Decisions, decisions, decisions! but I first went to the antique fair. My first stop was at a small restaurant in downtown Clinton. I had to prepare for the long shopping day ahead. I had to wake myself up with good country cooking so I can be ready for negotiations!

考えた結果骨董市に。朝早く起きてコーヒーも飲んでなかったので、クリントンにある小さいレストランで朝食を。典型的な朝食。そんなにおいしくもなかったけどお腹はいっぱい頭すっきり!

This Antique fair is done twice a year, but this fall one is the bigger because it ties up with the Fall Homecoming at the Museum of Appalachia, which brings lots of lots of people from all over America. Every year, I think about going to both, but I tend to spend all the daily allowance and time at antique fair.

この骨董市は年に二回あります。でも秋の分はアパラチアミュージアムの大きな行事といつも同じ日にやるのでアメリカ中から人がやってきてにぎやかです。骨董が大好きな私。思わず時間もお金も…飛んでいく～！？

I noticed there are so many good quality antiques in downtown Clinton. So much good potential, but city is not happening… someone helps them!

結構いい骨董を売っているのになかなか流行らないクリントン。いい感じなのに…　誰か何とかしてくれ!

Farmer’s Market in Maryville

When I was in Maryville last time, I saw something about the farmer’s market. I didn’t quit remember, but since I was in the neighborhood, I drove by the area I thought it was going to be. Then, yes! I did find the market!

この前メリビルに来たとき、ファーマーズマーケットのサインを見たのをたまたま思い出して、せっかく近くに来ていたのでちょっと心当たりをドライブしていると、見つけました!　マーケット!



It was at Downtown Maryville on Broadway where the bank parking is.
ダウンタウンメリビルのブロードウェイの銀行のパーキングでした。

It is not as big as I expected. I guess the season is almost over, too… :(
思ったより小さいけど季節も季節だし…　使用がないか?

Greek Festival – Knoxville, TN

Greek festival is one of the major and popular festivals in Knoxville. This festival is known for great food and entertainment. They even serve alcohol drinks which make it more fun for adults?!?!

ノックスビルではかなり有名なグリーク/ギリシャフェスティバル。もう29年目になるらしい。このイベントは教会で行われるのですが、ギリシャからのお酒も飲めたりして大人から子供まで楽しめす。



Thay have the shuttle service. You have to use that since you can’t park at the church.

車は大きい指定パーキングにおいてフェスティバル専用のピストンバスに乗って行きます。



The church is open for the public. They do have tours if you want to learn more about the church.

教会の中も見られます。詳しく教会のことや歴史など聞きたい人はツアーに参加もできます。

Inside is BEAUTIFUL! / 本当に綺麗な教会!





Of course crafts too. / お土産品も買える

Greek Coffee. It is very strong / ギリシャのコーヒーは粉をゆでて、とっても濃い。



All the food they serve is EXCELLENT!!! 食べ物は全部おいしい！

Typical lamb dish. $10 but worth trying!
一番高い羊のお肉の料理。＄10だけど変わっているから食べるかいはあると思う。



Wines and Ouzo. You can enjoy the complete Greek food and drink experiences!
ワインは酒屋で買えるのもあって割高だけど、1回はお試ししてみてください。ウーソー(ouzo)というのはギリシャの焼酎みたいな物。アルコール度はかなり高くストレートで飲むのでお酒に弱い人には危険かも。


I always buy at least 2 dozens of cookies and keep them in the freezer so I can eat them when I want to. They are that good!
私は毎年絶対にクッキーを買う。おいしいのでいっぱい買って冷凍庫に保存し好きなときに出して食べる。日本人好みの甘さ控えめでおいしい!

They always have a funny Greek musician/entertainer on stage. Also, Greek dance is going on almost all the time to entertain us.

いつも面白いギリシャ人のミュージシャンかエンターテイナーが舞台を仕切っている。ギリシャ伝統の踊りも1日中披露される。


Children dance too! So cute! / 子供も踊る。かわいい！

If you have not gone to the festival, this is the Must one you have to go to!
　
いったことのない人は是非来年行ってください。間違いなく楽しめます! たまに、春にもやるときがあるので1年待たなくても良いかも!　しっかり新聞でチェックしましょう!
